Asphalt Overlay
Cost-Effective Pavement Solutions
An asphalt overlay is one of the quickest and most efficient forms of asphalt paving. An asphalt overlay is a paving method that applies a new layer of bituminous paving to a damaged surface instead of removing the original asphalt surface entirely. However, it is not a suitable solution for all forms of asphalt surface damage.
Asphalt Assessment
Your asphalt surface will undergo a thorough inspection to determine if an asphalt overlay is the best solution. There are several reasons why an overlay wouldn’t be the best method: severe pothole damage, poor drainage, or structural damage may instead require removal or regrading.
Asphalt Milling
Asphalt milling is a method of removing the top layer of asphalt, which will help with cracking, raveling, or other forms of deterioration. Typically, the machine removes between 1-3 inches from the asphalt surface.
Base Repair
More severe damage, such as sinkage or potholes, will often require additional base repair. This is to ensure the damage doesn’t recur after the new asphalt is applied.
Asphalt Surface Paving
After the necessary steps are completed to prepare the surface, the new paving can be applied. Usually, the amount of asphalt used is between 1.5-2 inches thick. This creates a restored surface that functions and feels like new.
